Air Quality |
Here at Bowman Mechanical, we highly recommend and install externally insulated duct work. Typical installations from other companies utilize internally lined hard duct. Just look at the difference and you choose which type of duct system you want delivering the air in your home |
Our externally insulated duct: Notice the inside of this duct is clean, airtight and smooth. With proper filtration and care this duct will remain clean for many years to come.
|
Internally lined duct: This duct comes pre-lined from the sheet metal shop where it can be installed quickly. The corners almost always sweat, leading to premature rusting of ductwork. Also, the surface is a porous mesh which collects small particles and eventually allows for microbial growth. If one tried to clean this type of duct, it would never really get clean, if anything, it will get torn and loosen more fibers making your indoor air worse off than when you started.
|
Notice the internally lined duct after a few years. Ugh!!! Notice the discoloration and growth, there is no effective way to clean this type of duct. The use of ultraviolet light and duct sealing to combat your dirty duct work is virtually ineffective.
